Situated in the historic Claypath area of Durham City Centre, this former United Reformed Church building and adjacent listed Sunday School were recently acquired by the church. Changes were needed to allow the Church to operate a more flexible programme of events and to overcome the significant level changes between the two buildings.

The scheme places a new entrance building in the space between the Church and the Sunday School at the rear of the site, accessed from the pedestrian link to the south side of the church. The new metal-clad contemporary form houses new entrance facilities, a foyer/ gathering space and a circulation hub allowing level access to all floors of the adjacent listed buildings. A glazed link separates the façade of the Sunday School from the new building.
