Our latest retrofit project has been used as a case study for UKREiiF and Marketing Manchester.
Situated on Oldham Street in the Stevenson Square conservation area of Manchester city centre, the late Victorian Methodist Central Hall operates as a seven day a week hub for social justice.
The large community building is home to a wide variety of organisations. OMI’s wholescale retrofit and redevelopment of the building will significantly improve entrance and arrival, wayfinding, and circulation. Key to this approach is the adaptation of an existing external lightwell into a glazed internal atrium.
The large central hall at the core of the building will be reconfigured and upgraded, new meeting spaces and rooms for hire will expand existing provision while upgraded offices and coworking spaces will place emphasis on socialisation and interaction – one of the foundational themes underlying the project.
At roof level a new rooftop pavilion and outdoor terrace will provide the ability to host a range of large events whilst expanding the conference offer within the city centre.
