A bespoke infill private housing development located within Northenden, South Manchester on the banks of the River Mersey. Peggy Lane seeks to integrate with and repair its somewhat tired surroundings, exploiting its riverside setting and raising the bar for private housing in this Manchester neighbourhood. It comprises a total of 38 dwellings for private sale, made up of two-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom mews cottages and three and four-bedroom townhouses. The layout is a traditional plan of recognisable streets with clear definition to the public and private realm.
The bespoke mews cottage, devised by OMI for this project, provides two-bedroom and garage accommodation at ground level with luxurious living accommodation and large sun-terrace on the upper floor. The townhouses have family living accommodation accessing the west-facing garden at ground level. Additional living space at first floor has views in the opposite direction, overlooking the river. By combining an innate understanding of the commercial demands of private housing with sensitive place, Peggy Lane sets itself apart from the run-of-the-mill housing we see throughout our cities.
